The Jobs Report

The US Job Report indicates that we added 227,000 jobs in November and the unemployment rate ticked higher to 4.2%.

Both numbers were higher than the consensus estimates compiled by Bloomberg, which were 220,000 and 4.1%, respectively. Average hourly earnings also rose more than expected, up 0.4% from the prior month compared to the 0.3% estimate. From the prior year, earnings rose 4.0% versus a 3.9% estimate.
