Looking Ahead: Post-November Rally
November saw the markets rally to new all-time highs following the U.S. presidential election, as investors focused on the anticipated policies of the incoming administration. The S&P 500 climbed +6.0%, its largest monthly gain of the year, while the Russell 2000 surged +11.1%, driven by strong performances from smaller companies.
Treasury yields initially rose due to expectations of increased fiscal spending, tax cuts, and higher deficits but reversed course later in the month, leading to positive bond returns.
Looking ahead, we are are closely watching developments in tax policy, trade, immigration, and deregulation. Key discussions include potential extensions of prior tax cuts, trade policy shifts involving tariffs, and strategies to promote economic growth through deregulation. These policy changes, along with inflation concerns and Federal Reserve actions, could shape market dynamics in the coming months.
